High School & Jr. High Camp

When: August 18th-21st

Where: Shoshone Base Camp on the Coeur d’Alene River

How Much: $80. Space is limited to 80 kids, so places can be saved with at $25 non-refundable deposit. Total amount is due August 1st. Scholarships are available. YMMV. Ask your doctor if this is right for you.

We want our summer camp to be an incredible spiritual blessing to the young people of North Country Chapel. We want to give our young people the opportunity to take a few days at the end of their summer to really focus on Jesus Christ: who He is, what He has for us, and the incredible blessing found in a life fully surrendered to Him!

It will also be a great time of fellowship, time to hang out, to make new friends, there will be tons of fun in the sun (if it shows up), guest speakers, campfire worship, great camp food, night games, inner-tubing (if the river still has water) and much more!

Joy In Trials

kristinBlog

James writes:  My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.   (James 1:2-4)

I’ve been reminded of these words lately as I face trials of my own.  Jesus promised trials and troubles to those that are truly His:  These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. (John 16:33)

So with the promise that we will have trials; troubles; tribulations…we’re also encouraged to count it all joy…and the question rises, Why???? Why should I count the various trials as joy?  The Holy Spirit gives us the answer right there in James 1:2-4.  Because we know that the testing of our faith produces patience.  The Greek word is: hupomone: which means a sustaining perseverance.  The idea is to gain a solidness or a strengthening in our faith.  When our faith is tested by these trials or troubles, our faith is actually strengthened and refined.

God allows these trials in my life and yours to strengthen our faith and cause our faith to persevere through it all.  Each and every trial the Lord allows in our lives continues to refine and strengthen our faith so that we’ll continue to mature and as James writes will be made complete or mature.  We learn here that maturity comes through testing.

If I never have the trial or the trouble then my faith will never really be tested and my faith won’t mature.  I’ll become stagnant.  Just as gold is made pure by the fire so our faith is purified by the fiery trials.  So James encourages each and every true believer; consider it all joy, because this trial will strengthen your faith, this trial will purify your faith even more.

God actually has a goal in mind with each and every trial he allows in our lives.  Trials would be meaningless if there were no real purpose for them.  We’ve got God’s word on it, knowing that the testing of our faith produces a stronger faith and that strength of faith is a maturing persevering faith.

Another thing we learn is that with each new trial we can consider it all joy because he has brought us through every previous trial and he will carry us through again.  We mature, our faith is purified more and more for our strengthening and for HIS glory.

So let’s remember to pray for one another and to encourage each other in the trials that come our way.  God is good all the time and He has a plan for you and me.  Let’s take his word to heart and ask that he strengthen our faith through these trials just as he promised that he would.

He is not here: for he is risen…As He Said !!!

kristinBlog

In the Gospel of Matthew 28: 5-6 an Angel speaks to the women who have come to the tomb expecting to complete the anointing of the body of Jesus. The Angel tells them: I know you’re looking for Jesus the one that was crucified…he is not here: for he is risen as he said. Jesus had told his disciples many times that he would be crucified, that he would die and he would be buried but on the third day he would rise again.  He promised!

The women (and Jesus’ disciples) didn’t understand and in their grief they had forgotten what he said.  They had forgotten his promise.  In our times of difficulties, or troubles we have a tendency to do the very same thing.  We forget HIS word, we forget his promises.

As we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior let’s once again determine by God’s grace and in the power of His Holy Spirit to continue in his word and to stand on the promises that he has made to all of those that belong to him.  The angle said: he is not here: for he is risen; just like he said he would.
