The day after the crucifixion was a YEARLY Sabbath, not the WEEKLY sabbath. The Catholic church falsely teaches that the Crucifixion occurred on Friday, based on their PARTIAL knowledge thinking that the Sabbath afterward was the WEEKLY Sabbath. The original scripture of Mark 16:1 and Matthew 28:1 is "when the SabbathS WERE past", plural Sabbaths, NOT singular "Sabbath", but it was wrongly translated into singular Sabbath. Jesus also said that he would be in the tomb for three days and three nights, and you can't get three NIGHTS out of a Friday crucifixion/Sunday resurrection. The crucifixion happened on Wednesday (fullfiling Daniel 9:27), he was put into the tomb right before sunset Wednesday, the next day, Thursday, was the "Feast of Unleaven Bread", a YEARLY Sabbath, and he was resurrected right before sunset on Saturday, being in the tomb EXACTLY 72 hours, three complete days and three complete nights. When they found the tomb empty Sunday morning he had been gone from the tomb for 9 or 10 hours. There is NOWHERE in the Bible that says the resurrection occurred on Sunday. The comma in Mark 16:9 is in the wrong place, as there was no punctuation in the original scripture. Place the comma after the word "risen" or "rose" in some translations, NOT after the word "week". When the comma is taken away from after the word "week", and put after the word "risen", it makes the statement correct, that he first appeared to Mary early in the morning on the first day of the week, NOT that the resurrection occurred early in the morning of the first day of the week. When Jesus said the only sign that would be given to an "evil and adulterous generation" is that he would be in the tomb for three days and three NIGHTS, he specifically said this to give people NO REASON to observe Sunday as a special day.
